Watch cutting-edge competitions and see winners being crowned at The Restaurant Show

With seven competitions taking place across 3 days, visitors to The Restaurant Show can enjoy a feast of talent 2 – 4 October 2017.  A Restaurant Show institution, The Competition Theatre will once again be buzzing as it hosts some of the industry’s leading competitions, including:


Monday 2nd October

UK pastry open: Teams are composed by a trio of expert in chocolate, sugar and ice, working hundreds of hours of training and recipe development, following a series of qualifying rounds held over a 2 year period. Watch and support as the national round, UK Pastry Open, takes place live at the show.
07:00 – 13:00  (show doors open at 10:00) with awards and announcements taking place at 13:30.

Kikkoman Masters 2017: Watch the finalists prepare and serve two courses they have devised using Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce as an integral ingredient. They will have 90 minutes during the final to cook their dishes which must include meat or fish in either course. Who will be crowned Kikkoman Masters Champion 2017?
14:00 – 15:30 with awards and announcements taking place at 16:30


Tuesday 3rd October

The Craft Guild of Chefs’ finals take place where you can watch competitors battle it out in front of our audience and judges to be named the 2018 Young National Chef of the Year, or National Chef of the Year.

Craft Guild of Chefs’ Young National Chef of the Year: Watch as a new generation of talent cook up a storm for the judges and see if you can spot the industry’s future stars live on stage.
09.30 – 11.30 (show doors will open at 10.00) with winners announcement from 16.45 on The Stage

Craft Guild of Chefs’ National Chef of the Year: This coveted industry-leading award has launched the careers of some of the most renowned chefs.
13.00 – 15.00 with winners announcement from 16.45 on The Stage

 

Wednesday 4th October

The Compass Group finals take place where, in just 1.5 or 2 hours, competitors will be creating dishes for the judges that recognise British Produce whilst all the time reflecting current food trends, health and wellbeing.

Compass Junior Chef of the Year: This is the culmination of regional heats that have been conducted across the whole of the Compass UK & Ireland Business to find the very best Junior chef.
09:00 – 10:30 (Show doors will open at 10.00) with winners announced from 15:45

Compass Apprentice Chef of the Year: Showcasing apprentices as they go head to head to create a single main course dish in just 40 minutes, profiling some of our newest and grass roots talent in this exciting arena.
11:00 – 12:00 with winners announced from 15:45

Compass Senior Chef of the Year: In just 2 hours competitors will be creating dishes in this culmination of regional heats that have been conducted across the whole of the Compass UK & Ireland Business to find the very best Senior chef.
13:00 – 15:00 with winners announced from 15:45
